About Aspen Highlands
Aspen Highlands is the locals' mountain of the Aspen Snowmass complex — the resort that serious skiers choose when they want to avoid the scene at Aspen Mountain and the family crowds at Buttermilk and Snowmass. Its crown jewel is Highland Bowl, a 3,559m hike-to summit that requires a 30-45 minute bootpack from the top of the Loge Peak lift to access some of the most exhilarating expert terrain in Colorado: a vast, north-facing bowl with sustained 40-degree pitches, multiple line options, and — after a storm — some of the deepest inbounds powder in the state. The resort's 64km of lift-served terrain below the Bowl includes excellent intermediate cruising on the Steeplechase area and demanding black runs off the Cloud Nine lift, but Highland Bowl is the reason people come here. The Highlands base area has the Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro, famous for its mountaintop champagne service and Aspen's best on-mountain lunch. On the Ikon Pass, Aspen Highlands offers Aspen-calibre skiing without Aspen Mountain's prices and pretension — a genuine local favourite that rewards fit, adventurous skiers with terrain they'll remember for years.
