About Bad Gastein

Bad Gastein is a Victorian spa town in the Gastein valley that combines grand 19th-century belle époque hotel architecture — built on the back of thermal spring tourism — with a modern 200km ski area shared across four linked resorts in the valley. The dramatic waterfall that thunders through the town centre remains its most memorable image, and the radon thermal baths offer a genuinely different après-ski experience from the standard Austrian bar circuit. Terrain reaches 2,686m on the Stubnerkogel, providing solid intermediate runs and some genuinely demanding advanced terrain that rewards exploratory skiing across the full valley network.
