About Cerro Catedral

Cerro Catedral is South America's largest ski resort by piste extent, a sprawling 120km ski area rising above the stunning Patagonian lake district just 20 minutes from Bariloche — a chocolate-and-beer town of Swiss-inspired architecture on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake that is one of Argentina's most visited destinations. Its terrain spans an enormous variety from wide groomed pistes on the lower mountain to steep, rocky couloirs and open snowfields on the exposed upper ridges, with the jagged cathedral-like rock towers that give the mountain its name providing a photogenic backdrop visible from most of the resort. Cerro Catedral attracts an overwhelmingly Argentine domestic market — Buenos Aires families on school holidays, Patagonian adventurers, and serious Andean freeriders — which gives it an energy and character distinct from the more international resorts of Chile. The combination of an excellent ski area, beautiful lakeside town, and access to Patagonia's extraordinary national park landscapes makes this one of the most compelling ski holiday destinations in the Southern Hemisphere for US visitors seeking an adventure beyond Europe.
