About Erciyes
Erciyes is Turkey's most ambitious ski resort, built on the flanks of an extinct volcano (Mount Erciyes, 3,917m) just 25 minutes from Kayseri airport in central Anatolia — a proximity to an international airport that few ski resorts anywhere in the world can match. The resort has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past decade, with massive investment in Austrian-engineered lift infrastructure (Doppelmayr gondolas and high-speed chairs), modern snowmaking, and 150km of groomed piste that now rival mid-tier European resorts in scale. The skiing spans from 2,100m to 3,400m across the volcano's multiple flanks, offering a mix of wide-open cruising on the upper mountain, tree-lined runs lower down, and genuine off-piste potential on the vast, ungroomed volcanic slopes. The snow quality is excellent — Erciyes benefits from a continental climate that delivers dry, cold powder, and the high altitude ensures a long season. For US skiers, the value proposition is extraordinary: lift passes, accommodation, and dining cost a fraction of European equivalents, and the cultural experience of combining skiing with visits to nearby Cappadocia's cave cities and hot-air balloon flights makes Erciyes one of the most distinctive ski destinations on earth.
