About Ortisei

Ortisei is the largest town in Val Gardena — one of the most scenically spectacular valleys in the Dolomites — a Ladin-speaking community with a centuries-old tradition of woodcarving that still fills the workshops and galleries lining its main street. The 175km Val Gardena ski area connects via the Sellaronda circuit into the wider Dolomiti Superski network, with the famous Saslong course — a World Cup downhill venue since 1969 — cutting down the Ciampinoi face above the village. For US skiers, the combination of extraordinary UNESCO-listed Dolomite scenery, Italian food culture, and access to one of Europe's largest ski networks makes a compelling case for a visit.
