About Sälen

Sälen is Scandinavia's largest ski resort area, a cluster of four linked resorts — Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen, and Hundfjället — spread across the rolling forested hills of Dalarna in central Sweden. What it lacks in alpine drama it compensates for with near-guaranteed snow from November through April thanks to its northern latitude and a comprehensive snowmaking system, exceptionally well-designed children's areas that make it one of Europe's top family ski destinations, and a distinct Scandinavian character with cross-country trails, saunas, and reindeer safaris alongside the piste skiing. The terrain is gentle and wide, ideal for beginners and families; experts will find it limited, but for a first ski holiday with young children Sälen is genuinely hard to beat.
