About Stratton Mountain Resort

Stratton Mountain Resort is southern Vermont's most upmarket ski destination, a well-developed mountain with a genuine claim to having shaped modern skiing — Burton Snowboards was founded here, snowboarding was first officially permitted on these slopes in 1983, and the World Snowboard Tour still considers Stratton a spiritual home. Its 100km of terrain across 97 trails includes strong intermediate cruising terrain, challenging glades on the Sun Bowl and North American sectors, and extensive freestyle terrain in the snowboard and terrain park areas that reflect the mountain's formative role in freestyle skiing culture. The pedestrianised European-style village at the base — a deliberate design choice that makes Stratton feel considerably more sophisticated than typical New England resort bases — offers good restaurants, boutique retail, and slopeside accommodation from the Stratton Mountain Inn and the surrounding condominium complexes that make up the resort community. Albany International Airport provides the most convenient air access for visitors from outside the northeast, though Boston's Logan and New York's JFK are within driving range for the substantial weekend market that sustains Stratton's village economy.
