About Valmorel
Valmorel is one of the most thoughtfully designed purpose-built resorts in France, a pedestrianised village at 1,400m in the Tarentaise built in the 1970s with traditional Savoyard materials — wood, stone, and slate — in deliberate contrast to the concrete architecture of its era. The 165km Grand Domaine, connected with Saint-François-Longchamp, offers varied terrain well-suited to families and intermediates without the crowds or prices of the major Tarentaise resorts. The pedestrian village centre, with its bakeries, butchers, and cheese shops, provides a genuinely pleasant atmosphere that most purpose-built resorts entirely lack, making Valmorel a consistent favourite for families who value village life alongside skiing.
