About Champéry

Champéry is the Swiss flagship of the 600km Portes du Soleil domain, a charming traditional village at 1,050m in the Dents du Midi foothills that has been a destination for British skiers since the late 19th century. Its signature contribution to the ski area is the Chavannes wall — a legendary mogul field that stops many intermediate skiers in their tracks on the return from France — providing an inadvertent challenge that has become part of Champéry's identity. The village itself is compact and handsome, with a main street of old chalets, good restaurants, and an ice rink, all served by the Mont Blanc Express railway from Monthey and the Rhône valley below.
