About High1 Resort

High1 Resort is South Korea's highest-altitude ski destination, a casino-resort complex in the remote eastern Taebaek Mountains of Gangwon Province operated by Kangwon Land that occupies a genuinely elevated position — its peak at 1,340m delivers Korea's most reliable natural snowfall and the longest sustained cold temperatures of any domestic ski area. Its 18km of groomed terrain across 18 trails skews towards intermediate skiing, with long top-to-bottom runs that reward cruising rather than technical challenge, supplemented by good freestyle terrain in the designated park zones. The resort's full-service hotel and casino complex creates an adult entertainment atmosphere somewhat different from a typical family mountain, though the ski school and beginner areas are competent and well-staffed. For US skiers visiting Korea who want to combine mountain time with a full resort experience — and who are willing to make the three-hour journey from Seoul — High1 offers altitude, reliability, and a culturally distinctive resort environment found nowhere else in East Asia.
