About Yongpyong Resort
Yongpyong Resort is South Korea's largest and most internationally recognised ski destination, a sprawling complex in the Taebaek Mountains of Gangwon Province that gained global attention as the alpine venue for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics — Dragon Peak's Super G course remains one of the most photographed race venues in modern Olympic history. Its 28km of groomed piste across 31 trails range from wide beginner boulevards at the resort's mid-mountain village to steep race-gradient pitches on the upper slopes, served by 15 lifts including the Dragon gondola that ascends 1,000 vertical metres in under 10 minutes. The resort's well-maintained snowmaking infrastructure compensates for South Korea's relatively modest natural snowfall, and the adjacent Dragon Valley Hotel complex provides ski-in ski-out accommodation of a standard that would satisfy most North American resort visitors. Yongpyong's accessibility from Seoul — 2.5 hours by KTX bullet train to Jinbu station, from which shuttle buses serve the mountain — makes it a compelling add-on for US travelers already visiting South Korea for business or leisure.
