About Nevis Range
Nevis Range sits on the flanks of Aonach Mòr in the Lochaber mountains, a few miles from Fort William in the western Highlands, and at 1,221m it holds the highest ski terrain in the British Isles. Its 35km of piste include the only World Cup downhill course in the UK — the demanding Black run used for the annual British Alpine Ski Championships — alongside a good range of intermediate terrain served by the UK's only gondola. The mountain is well-positioned to catch Atlantic fronts that dump heavy snowfall, though this same Atlantic exposure can bring rain, wind, and white-outs that close the mountain at short notice. For US visitors already in Scotland, a day on Nevis Range in good conditions is a uniquely atmospheric experience; building an entire holiday around it requires flexibility and a weather-tolerant mindset.
