About Panorama Mountain Resort
Panorama Mountain Resort is British Columbia's most underrated ski destination, a self-contained mountain village in the Purcell Mountains west of Invermere that offers 1,500m of vertical drop — one of the greatest continuous vertical descents in North America — across 120km of varied terrain that includes some of the most compelling expert skiing in western Canada at a price point significantly below its more famous Rockies neighbours. Its 10 lifts serve a terrain mix that spans the full ability range, with the Panorama Village Base area providing excellent beginner and early-intermediate terrain and the upper mountain's Mile 1, Taynton Bowl, and the Extreme Dream zones delivering genuine steep and deep skiing for advanced visitors willing to earn their turns. Panorama's relative remoteness — three hours from Calgary, 45 minutes from Cranbrook — keeps the resort uncrowded even during peak periods, preserving the powder and the uncrowded piste experience that increasingly defines the appeal of the Purcell and Selkirk ranges relative to the busier Columbia Valley and Banff alternatives. The compact slopeside village, with good restaurants, a climbing wall, and a genuine sense of mountain community, makes Panorama a rewarding base for week-long family or group ski trips.
