About Red Mountain Resort

Red Mountain Resort is one of the last great undiscovered ski areas in North America — a rugged, fiercely independent resort in the Monashee Mountains of British Columbia's West Kootenay region that has been attracting hardcore skiers since the 1940s with some of the steepest, most varied inbounds terrain on the continent. The resort's 110km of skiable terrain spans three mountains — Red, Granite, and Grey — with a vertical drop of 890m and a terrain mix that is heavily weighted towards advanced and expert skiing: long, sustained black runs through old-growth cedar forests, open alpine bowls above the treeline, and tight chutes that rival anything in the more famous Revelstoke or Kicking Horse. Red receives over 7.5 metres of annual snowfall, and the interior BC snow quality is consistently dry and light. The town of Rossland, a historic mining community at the resort's base, has a thriving independent culture with excellent restaurants, breweries, and a genuine mountain-town character that has been preserved precisely because Red Mountain has never attracted the massive development that transforms other resorts. For US powder seekers willing to make the journey, Red Mountain offers terrain and snow quality that match the continent's best at a fraction of the crowds and cost.
