Its 167km of piste are the most varied and technically interesting in the Iberian Peninsula, with a genuine mix of wide cruising runs, mogul fields, and tree skiing that rewards repeat visits. The Val d'Aran's unusual north-facing orientation funnels Atlantic weather systems into the valley, giving Baqueira above-average snowfall by Pyrenean standards, and the Aranese culture of the valley — a Gascon language and distinct culinary tradition — adds genuine interest beyond the skiing.
