About Mad River Glen
Mad River Glen is unlike any other ski resort in North America: it is a cooperative owned by its shareholders, it bans snowboards on the entire mountain, it operates the last single-chair lift in the United States, and it deliberately limits snowmaking to a small section of one trail in order to preserve the natural skiing experience it has offered since 1948. Its 115 skiable acres are among the most challenging and unforgiving in Vermont, with narrow, natural-terrain trails cut through tight trees that reward skiers who can handle variable eastern conditions — ice, crust, packed powder, and natural bumps — without the benefit of grooming. Its slogan, "Ski It If You Can", is not entirely a joke. For skiers who find the modern resort experience over-engineered and inauthentic, Mad River Glen is a pilgrimage destination.
