About Buttermilk

Buttermilk is the gentlest and most beginner-friendly of Aspen's four mountains, known globally as the venue for the Winter X Games Superpipe and Slopestyle events but operating for most of the season as a dedicated learning and improvement environment. Its 470 skiable acres are predominantly blue and green-rated runs with a consistent, forgiving pitch that gives new skiers the time and space to build confidence without being crowded off the mountain by more advanced traffic. The Powder Pandas children's ski school at Buttermilk is among the most highly regarded in Colorado, and families with young children who are new to skiing will find the combination of accessible terrain, quality instruction, and proximity to Aspen's dining and lodging difficult to beat anywhere in the Rocky Mountains.
